A hot summer day, a blazing hot field, and multiple gorgeous old warbirds flying in pristine condition. I actually made it to the event early this time, with a great position to setup on and a few drinks to keep sated in the hot sun. That’s about when the troubles started. My XQD card failed, then my backup failed, so after missing several shots, I ran on 3 old SD cards and fought my camera to do some damn work. All in all, it was an excellent day that helped to refresh my spirits and hopes of capturing that elusive perfect shot. I love shooting aircraft, it’s a great way to practice capturing motion, the feelilng of speed, the fighting for that signifigant frame.
One complaint, last year they shut down the airport and allowed the museum to run everything at once, this one was during a rush period of 20 Cessena’s interuppting the show by putting down the airfield after getting back from their golf games or check rides.

So after a day in the sun, shooting beautiful planes and talking to a few odd types, I wrapped up by cursing my equipment, my ineptitude, and in dire need of a good beer. So off I went to the bar, to finish up the night with a nice beer or seven.
