Finally, FINALLY, I had someone else to drive. That gives me unlimited access to the camera, the radio, and my delicious nicotine and caffeine. Amazing.
So, we started our journey heading east, and followed good ole’ 32 the whole way, encountering all the usual denizens of Ohio traffic. Crackheads in cars that are held together by EBT cards and zip ties, truckers that are nodding off at the wheel, some Amish mushing a buggy to try and get away from it all. The sights, you could make a million of the spectacle alone. However, we weren’t there to get the pictures of the wildlife, there’s plenty out there who do that better than I.
We were there to stare at the sun. Boy, did I stare. All day, I gazed up at the big ball of radioactive fire we call a celestial body, and I clicked away at the shutter. It’s haunting glow still haunts me, or it could just be the damage to my retinas. After burning spots into my eyes, we continued our journey, through Athens. A small town that prides itself as Ohio’s runner up college, you can feel the desperate frat boys and sorority girl woes in the air. The whole town smelled like your typical college party, a mixture of bad Polo cologne, rotten channel, and desperation. Amazing.
Driving through that and laughing at the state of things, we continued north before finally hooking back west. Bypassing Lancaster, because what’s Lancaster, we journeyed onto the road to see what other sights we could partake in. It was just the usual Ohio; trees, hills, flat, hills, trees, traffic out of nowhere, cows. Amazing. Finally at the end of our journey and within farting distance of the home stretch, I witnessed a beautiful sunset, that big beautiful ball descending for the night to go shower the other side of the globe with it’s delicious radioactivity. The day came to an end, and so did the journey. Time to pump out an article and enjoy a nice drink or six.
Semantics aside, I’ve got some wonderful light rays and sunsets to show you fine people, all five of you who read this. Next time, I’m heading west with the plains on my mind, and I can’t wait to pump out another grouping of fine pictures.
Thanks, and safe Travels.
